Andrea Dubois - Semantic Diagrams

Andrea Dubois, Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Psychology department, informally assesses student learning by having them complete Semantic Diagrams (aka: concept maps, mind maps), showing what concepts they can think of surrounding a psychology term and how the concepts link together.  Andrea demonstrates how she starts this activity in class, shares student examples and how they are graded, and discusses the research findings that show the benefits of this for gauging students' learning and instructors' strengths and weaknesses.  While Andrea has finished her graduate work at ESU, Dr. Cathy Grover oversaw the research and may be able to help answer questions that you might have.
